CHICKEN BHUNA

People can't stop searching for the perfect Chicken bhuna. Chicken Bhuna is a “dry curry” which means the masala clings onto the chicken (rather than the chicken swimming in sauce).

Bhuna is a method of cooking where you cook onions, tomatoes and meat over high heat – stirring until all the liquid dries up.

The rendition of perfectly mended chicken with all the ingredients to spice it up is just marvellous. Guess what? We bought you the recipe so that you can try making this at home. So let's start with the items you need to make Chicken Bhuna!

Ingredients:
  • Chicken: half kg
  • Onions: 2 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomato: 1, finely chopped
  • Ginger garlic paste: 1 tablespoon
  • Cashew paste: 2 tablespoons
  • Turmeric powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves: few
  • Salt: as required
  • Whole red chillies: 7
  • Coriander seeds: 1.5 tablespoons
  • Cloves: 4
  • Peppercorns: 6
  • Star anise: half
  • Cinnamon stick: 1
Instructions:
Heat Kadai/ pan, add red chillies, coriander seeds, star anise, cinnamon stick, cloves, and peppercorns. Dry roast these ingredients and make a fine powder and set aside.
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil, add half teaspoon cumin seeds, once splutters add finely chopped onions, ginger garlic paste, curry leaves, turmeric, and salt. Cook till oil separates.
Now add cumin powder and give a nice stir. Add chicken and cook for 10 minutes. Now add the prepared bhuna masala powder and cook for 5 minutes.
Now add finely chopped tomatoes and cook till oil separates. Now adjust salt and spicy. Add cashew paste and cook for 2 minutes.
